Engine Freight Details

Buyers arrange and prepay freight.  This is best for the buyer as the buyer can shop around and get the best deal.  The buyer then sends me the bill of lading and the engine can be shipped.

Engines are shipped from a Detroit metropolitan area terminal.  Shipping to a residential location is discouraged as it is very expensive.  The vast majority of engines are shipped to a business location.  The shipping cost to a business location in the lower 48 states is typically 400 to 500 dollars or more.  If a loading dock is not available at the business location, then a truck with a lift gate is necessary.  The lift gate truck can increase the cost by 100 dollars.  I recommend using freightcenter.com as your shipping broker.  When you get a quote they will show many different prices since they use many freight carriers.

All of the details needed to get a quote are below:
Zip code: 48073
Freight class: 70 (engine in a crate)
Weight: 725 pounds
One crate

Crate dimensions: 48 by 48 by 48
Crate dropped off at freight carrier terminal (near my zip code: 48073)
Insurance:  Add it.  The fee is minor.
